L’augmentation de l’inaptitude au travail en Belgique et en Europe n’est pas un phénomène nouveau mais seulement la transposition d’une expérience déjà vécue sur d’autres continents (Canada - Etats-Unis). Le modèle bio-psychosocial s’avère sur le plan international comme la vision la plus efficiente pour la compréhension des mécanismes de production du handicap et donc de l’incapacité de travail. Suivant cette approche, la douleur chronique est la résultante de l’interaction dynamique entre des facteurs physiologiques, psychologiques et sociaux. Il évoque également la relation existant entre la douleur et la dépression elle-même étant un facteur déterminant dans la persistance de l’incapacité de travail. Le concept bio-psychosocial ne peut se concevoir que dans une approche interdisciplinaire, et va certainement permettre d’optimaliser la prise en charge et l’utilisation des médicaments à visée anti-douleur et antidépressive. The alarming increase of incapacity for work The increase of incapacity for work in Belgium and in Europe is not a new phenomenon but only the transposition of an experience already lived on others continents (Canada - USA). The biopsycho- social model proves to be, on the international level, as the more efficient view for the understanding of the mechanisms production of the disability and therefore of the incapacity for work. Following this approach, the chronic pain is the result of the dynamic interaction between physiological, psychological and social factors. It mentions also an existing link between the pain and the depression itself being a determining factor in the persistence of the incapacity for work. The bio-psycho-social model can only be conceived in the interdisciplinary approach, and will for sure allow to optimize the support and the use of medicines with a painkiller and depressive aim.
