Pancytopénie comme complication d’une radiothérapie et d’un traitement par Iode 131 d’un cancer thyroïdien
Pancytopenia as a complication of radiotherapy and Iodine 131 treatment in a thyroid cancer
Nous présentons ici le cas original d’une patiente d’origine africaine porteuse d’une récidive de cancer thyroïdien folliculaire avec métastases ganglionnaires et osseuses. La patiente présente un état fébrile deux semaines après un traitement par Iode 131 et trois mois après une radiothérapie pour ses métastases osseuses. Celle-ci induisit une lymphopénie avec pancytopénie subséquente. Dans cet article, nous présentons une brève revue de la littérature sur les lymphopénies radio-induites et leur impact clinique à court et à long terme sur la survie du patient.
We present here the original case of an African patient carrying a recurrence of Follicular thyroid cancer with lymph node and bone metastases. The patient has a feverish condition two weeks after Iodine 131 treatment and three months after radiotherapy for bone metastases. This induced lymphopenia with subsequent pancytopenia. In this article, we present a brief review of the literature on radiation-induced lymphopenia and their short- and long-term clinical impact on patient survival.
