An unusual foot drop : the fibular intraneural cyst
Les kystes fibulaires développés à partir de l’articulation du genou constituent une cause rare de compression du nerf fibulaire commun (sciatique poplité externe), bien mise en évidence par l’échographie et l’imagerie par résonance magnétique nucléaire. Une dissection soigneuse puis l’ablation du kyste venant de l’articulation tibio-fibulaire et s’étendant dans la portion intraneurale du nerf fibulaire commun (sciatique poplité externe) permet une récupération progressive de la force d’extension du pied. Fibular intraneural cysts are a rare cause of fibular neuropathy. Echography and MRI are helpful in the detection of cysts of the knee. Surgical ablation of the cyst arising from the superior tibio-fibular joint is necessary for a good recovery. Rev Med Brux 2007 ; 28 : 195-8
